Healing From Loss..Takes Time-LP LOG

Zolomon was a little ahead of the others, he keep an eye on the hare Reva "Ya gonna have to get use to marching lass, Patrol does it a lot don't ya know. And most will want a certain pace of course."

Reva was not enjoying the past 3 days so far as she shakes her head "I thought tis was basic training..Hallo!"

Zolomon frowns "Ya...this is basic training lass, tis gonna be hard....we can stop and ya can do ...oh 50 sits ups and then same on push ups lass, trust me I am going easy on ya compared ta some, was told to make sure you were ready to join or not after all"

Reva frowns but does the sit ups and push ups and then stands up "Worse? Thar is a worse and no I don't want worse"She thinks "I am gonna prove I can put up with this, your see"

Zolomon nods "That's the spirit lass, always try ya best and your do well...ok we can sit and wait on de others"

Reva grined and sat, she looked over at him "You like..rarely smile, why is that? Got ta have some fun in your life at times, some adventure and all that jolly stuff and yeah yeah sometimes adventuring is bad but not all the time"

Zolomon says, "Nothing ta smile bout lately, not really lass. But yeah fun is good to have....I just sort of lost me..."He frowns "Mood fer it""

Reva asks, "Why?" Hey she is curious ok, "You don't seem the type to be all bossy and a lot seem worried about ya, I didnt mean to...listen in and not like they really said much but seemed you needed time off, time away..leave or wot ever they call it, your escorting beasts back to Redwall and...guess helpin' ta train me, you train many beasts or escort many beasts?" So many questions."And how ya on leave if your doing that""

Zolomon frowns "You talk a lot"He sighs "I can rest some at de abbey and no...first time really ta...help train, well did help train some archers before.."He frowns " And..first time escorting beasts anywhere....not that most couldn't take care of them selves or....well the couple that maybe can't"

Reva says, "Before..wot?" She tilts her head "That....thing in Mossflower, I asked one of de recruits and they said like a lot of hares died saving Redwall, that their father and mother died but they stayed in the patrol to like honor them, not sure I could do that and you should still train archers right? I mean to like.....have good archers for any future savings of Redwall or the Western shores, be like kick butt hares of the long patrol..jolly wot wot""

Zolomon chuckles faintly and sighs "Yeah, maybe and that's when I joined, got lucky to of not died, i will just say a couple beasts showed up and helped me, I was then de one to run....yeah run back and tell the Recorder de news, the Recorder is also the general....there is like one hare above him and then his Lordship of course."He sighs"I was in de infirm like 3-4 days recovering from...well too much, little rest running but de news was important and I did lose a couple new friends to that horde but tis not the reason I am...not me self"

Reva frowns"Wot..happen?" Ok maybe she should not of asked "Oh...I'm sorry didnt mean to ask"

Zolomon says, "A hare maid I loved...dyed and I found out the next morning, it happen the night...night before and I saw her go out and she said she be back it was a simple patrol to check on something....she didnt come back..she was killed, her murderer was later killed, not by me though..another killed them""

Reva frowns"Oh...my mother said once...grief is like the ocean , it comes in waves, ebbing and flowing and sometimes the water is calm and sometimes it be overwhelming. All we can do is...learn to swim." She sighs "I didnt understand it at first...I was a little too young, see a grandma died and my brother in a storm....then I lost mom and...dad and..."

Reva sniffs "And it..sort of made..sense, somewhat...ya have good and bad days but you must carry on or sort of like swimming, you stop swimming in that wide ocean ya sink and ya drown and....your like gone and maybe someone will care and maybe they wont but...well your gone and...or well in this case maybe not dead gone just sort of...may as well be dead but your alive...ok now I am hurting my own brain now I think, too much thinking is never good either"

Zolomon listens quietly "No...no such thing as too much thinking lass, thinking proves one is..alive and yeah maybe tis like me old self....died too, or is near death anyways" He has tears going down his face now and is glad no one else is around.

Reva ears drop "I'm....sorry..I didnt mean to make it worse"She slowly reaches out a paw "You know..I bet she would want ya to get your old self back. I mean you said near death so, thar be a chance right? Maybe ya wont be totally back 100% wot ya was before she...died but your be as close as ya can be and you can help others grief, its sort of a thing...those who been through it better know how to help those who are going through it and not understanding it, yeah other friends help too..friends..family.."

Zolomon smiles a little and nods"Yes.....me friends have helped some..Xander and...Brother S..."He gives a weak grin.

Reva smiles "Also..a smile to another helps them smile...see and..Xandy..Brother.....S? " Confused here.

Zolomon smiles more "Brother Sinway de otter in the brown robes and Xandy the badger that's with us....nick names"He hmmms "I should get back to nick names, nick names are..are me"He grins "I am good with them...Private R.."

Recruit R

Reva blinks "Recruit R?...oh I get it you like use the first letter of a name sometimes as a nickname or sometimes more...wait does that mean ya called his Lordship Lord C before?"

Zolomon says, "Maybe......"He chuckles a little "Couple times, don't think he likes it too well...so, ya know sur is good""

Reva shakes her head" And wot if ya run out of letters, hmmm...you know there is like two recruits or privates with the letter..s or letter R..then wot?"

Zolomon hmmmms "Good point, thar is a Private Rudolfo after all"He shrugs "I will figure it out suppose huh, it be sort of neat to neat ta think on it cause would mean de jolly Long patrol is growing, then thar was a Brother L at the abbey and then Friar L, Friar L still be alive or,,Friar Lacota, Brother L..Brother Leon..he sadly died"

Reva nods "Maybe...it ever is another order Brother with a first name is L..think on something else as a nick name guess ...don't know."She grins "There is always other ways ta do nicknames..."

Zolomon shrugs "Don't know lass and yeah ya be right, I wont use the nickname Brother L...again, outta respect for his family."He looks around and sighs "I think visiting Redwall will help me a lot...other friends thar and Abbot Benar, he is always nice ta talk to and Friar Lacota makes de best pies and is very protective of em' too trust me but he is also nice when he wants ta be. Thar is the pond, the Bell Tower...oh and de food...the food is know far and wide!"

Reva grins "Food is always good. I have heard of Redwall, never been thar though just stories from others who heard stories and, not sure if anyone was there or visited but sounds nice still...so how soon?"

Zolomon says, "Little over 2 weeks, total trip be 3 weeks on foot and we are like 4 days into it now lass, we could go a little faster but...well thar be some who cant go fast like Hawkeye, unless we let them know we may be 2-3 days ahead of em' hee let de abbey know they are back soon huh and get ya better trained in marching...trust me it will be a bit faster march on de way back...well maybe""

Reva says, "Isn't just me and you heading back...oh wait the fox cub and old otter are ....they live in Halyard don't they""

Zolomon nods "Crevan and Hawkeye unless they jolly well decide to stay but that's up to them, not me or anyone else"

Reva nods as she yawns "Is it ok to get a nap in before the others catch up?" This is the camp for the night right?

Zolomon nods "Yes....and we will camp here guess, its a good spot after all and remember early up time, and will warn ya its usually earlier but gonna be nice fer me friends after all"

Reva nods"Yeah...always good to be nice to beasts"She yawns "Ok goodnight...sleeping now" And soon she is asleep.

Zolomon shakes his head and chuckles some. He will wait for the others to catch up, in the meantime he gets a campfire started and warms up a little stew, and gets out some water ..stew and water is a good dinner for traveling and maybe they can catch fish one night or two nights, wild greens will soon be seen and maybe find shrimp. He takes a deep breath of the fresh air and smiles, life isn't so bad after all, yes he is still in grief mode but he is slowly healing, ever so slowly.
