Xander is at the fire pit, alone and in the dark and....crying

Gorvenalus walks quietly over and sits down in front of the badger, he doesn't say anything for now.

Xander doesn't notice the beaver right away or if he does he doesn't make it known. He has been here a good half hour. Crying, at first loud and then softer but few if any would hear him here.

Gorvenalus sighs before he speaks" Its not your fault...one can't be everywhere at once"

Xander just sniffs" It....but I..I am...was.....their leader....beasts are...d...dead or captured."He frowns "I...don't even know who all isn't captive and...still alive"

Gorvenalus says, "Well Karth is....Kirk, Ferro.....you are, and Sinway is alive. Anatole is, as well as Misu....whom else I do not know but can help you find out""

Xander sniffs and finally looks at the beaver and keeps his focus " I...plan to go to Salamandastron soon" He frowns "I need others to come also"

Misu speaks "I'm going and your not saying no, when do we leave?" Her tone just so monotone and the look on her face just , well unreadable.

Gorvenalus nods and blinks as the otter maid suddenly shows up "Greetings" He leaves it at that.

Xander nods, he seems afraid to tell the otter no "Sure...yes Misu your on the list" He is quiet "How is Karth?"

Misu just keeps the same expression..almost..."He is alive. He rests in the infirm"

Gorvenalus asks, "Has he awaken?"

Xander listens as he is concerned, it shows.

Misu shakes her head"Not yet...but his breathing is improved. He lives...he is tuff."

Gorvenalus says, "I can check on him"

Xander nods "And..Gorvenalus tell any Defender to meet me here....ok? Most of the ones..." He wont say not dead or captive "Those able may be here, or see if a sparrow could...check Ferravale...I want a meeting in an hour"

==3 hours later==

Xander paces, an hour turned into two hours, then 3 hours so he was noticeably worried, he looked at the scroll in his paws and read the info given to him.

Ximena just watches the badger "Pacing never helps or so I been told." She sighs "Relax it takes time for this sort of thing."

Zolomon enters eating a pear and takes a large bite "She is bally well right ya know Xandy."

Rupert walks to the fire pit and shakes his head as he waits for the badger to notice him.

Xander frowns, but at least he is not pacing "The base is gone, I feel like I failed them.."Upon hearing Zolomon he goes over to hug the hare "Your ok...I am so glad I was worried."

Zolomon gladly hugs back "I am fine" On a more serious note" I wasn't thar, sorry but from wot heard would of been a bad idea. Some good news I jolly well seen 4 Defenders at the tavern in Ferravale....before some other disaster happen there"

Rupert grumbles "Disaster is not the word for it Zolomon....sit." He looks at Xander and clears his throat" Blisa has been abducted."

Zolomon frowns "Ummm...do ya ever use normal words?"

Ximena blinks "Say...what now, who's Blisa anyways?"

Xander listens and ok great more worry "Kidnapped....what happen, wait who's in charge of Ferrvale then?!"

Rupert just grumbles and adjusts his glasses " Marek and Nightbreath are, Guards are now fairly heavy in Ferravale and I have decided to go with you on your expedition to Salamanastron. I know a slightly quicker route and Marek has even found a beast with a boat, course a better one may be needed once there. Do you even have others going, I do hope your not traveling unattended ."

Zolomon just sits and listens, he taps his fingers on the log as it seems the rabbit  goes on and on and on "I am going with Xander...so relax thar old fellow"

Sinway walks over from the abbey, the otter getting the news about some meeting at the fire pit when he woke up. He yawns and seems pretty out of it the stubborn otter was up much later patrolling the woods for any who might still be making there way to the abbey, upon seeing the group he gives a nod "Mornin'" The otter plops him self down on one of the log benches

Ximena raises her paw "I can go...may be good to have a healer "

Xander nods to the rabbit and smiles a little at the hamster "Thanks Ximena....hello Sinway just a quick meeting, a couple others left earlier and there is more news"He glaces at Rupert "You need to tell Abbot Benar before we head off"

Rupert nods "Well yes of...." And then otter yawns so he taps a foot paw and then speaks again"Wise choice yes." He half glares at Zolomon and shakes his head muttering about how unwise it would be to take the annoying hare.

Zolomon ears perk a little, "Rude" He says and grins "I have archer skills, I have tracking skills and I am serious when needed old bean" He goes to pat Rupert on the head." Maybe tis unwise for you to come...what you gonna do scare away possible attacks with large words?"

Sinway ears perk as he is spoken to "sorry i wasn't up sooner then.......some one should of woken me up." He turns and gives a greeting to the others around the pit "don't lt me be interruptin', ye can tell me about the new, news when I be more awake."

Ximena just sits quietly "So who is staying, going, not going?"

Xander nods to Sinway and glaces between Zolomon and Rupert "Please get along you two...and so far its me, Misu, you Ximena, Zolomon and I guess Rupert." He looks at a scroll and reads it " So...Tassel is in the infirm, Anatole is staying to be with her, Karth is injured...which leaves whom to keep an eye on things..." He looks at the scroll again" Silverwing and Henry are maybe messages...I hope, Zolomon mentioned 3-4 Defenders were at the tavern in Ferravale and may stay there to help. Rigel I believe is staying to help Ferrvale .Dorarose is the gatekeeper so course she stays here, Kirk is staying here....Sinway?" He looks to the otter, if he is awake enough to reply."

Rupert nods "And as said Marek had to step up temporary Chieftain, but that seer Nightbreath is also there to lead in Ferravale so anyone helping them can report to them as for Silverwing she is sending a message to the badger mt. ahead of whomever is going with us"

Zolomon asks, "That wise?" He asks "That eagle has a poor sense of direction chap"

Sinway is indeed awake enough to reply looking over at Xander "Am I needed, at first I was goin' to stay behind, tis been so long since i been home it didn't feel right leavin' so soon, but that was before what happened, and we lost a lot....." He pauses more to stretch and force him self to wake up more "So if'n I'm needed to go wit ye, then I be ready to leave when ever." He adds at the comment of Rigel "Rigel says he doesn't think he be welcomed at the mountain, so he is stayin'"

Ximena says, "Well I am the only healer ...left"She frowns as it seems to dawn on her, the only healer left in the group "So you need me and Redwall has healers they don't need me here"

Xander sighs, he looks to Sinway "It may be best to stay here and help Sinway...some have to stay and make sure no one else is captured, this horde group..This Ormaz captured the chieftain of Ferravale...what if they are after Abbot Benar , not that he is as easily taken but then again Blisa has a lot of body guards and she was taken and she has a....ummm...."He frowns not sure how to explain whom else stays close to the chieftain.

Rupert says, "Then we leave within the hour and true they will need fighters here Xander."

Zolomon ears droop, yeah he knows what it is "Yeah...how they bally well get around Basil?"

Sinway thinks for a moment not sure on what to decide "if ye think it be best fer me to stay, then ill stay." his ears perk up at the comment "Who is Basil.......don't worry about scarin' me ye wont."

Ximena seems curious also"Some like really skilled head guard?"

Xander shakes his head "The head guard of Ferravale is Vojin, a wildcat....no Basil is....ummm...."He grows quiet, he meet him once and decided to never pay Blisa an unexpected visit again, always send a note"A snake...My Uncle Zee seemed to get along well with Basil but...ok I don't like...snakes "

Sinway hmms a little and nods, not seeming to be shocked by this "if'n she had a snake as a guard.......how they ever get to Blisa?" The otter then stretches again "So if  I be stayin' who all is stayin' to defend the abbey?"

Rupert says, "Yes Basil is...one to not get too close to and I have no clue why that badger ...or how he got along with so many in Ferravale to the point when he did get hurt once he had a whole tavern of vermin chase off the would be assassin" He smiles "Zee Winters was a good beast and still sadly missed""

Zolomon shrugs "Yeah who is staying Xandy?"

Xander replys "Karth, Anatole, Henry may stay he is a sparrow and may even see if any sparrows want to help us. Rigel seems like is staying and a few others."He frowns and looks down at the ground "We...lost like half our group...some dead and some taken captive by that horde, they attacked the base at the same time they went to capture Blisa, I think that was on purpose, they wanted our base to burn to the ground but also a distraction so less were near the chieftain's house"He seems to think as he speaks "It means they will likely go after Marek next and maybe Nightbreath"

Sinway nods listening to Xander "Then ye need to head out as soon as ye can.........it be a harsh thing to say, but if they still be focusing on Ferravale, then it be the best time fer ye to slip off........guess i be cooped up in the abbey." He frowns and sighs "Feelin' a bit restless, not used to not bein' able to go where I please."

Rupert nods "Yes soon is best or are you even ready, do you have a good plan?"

Zolomon says, "Bally well be nice to Xandy he has gone through a lot this week"

Xander frowns "I...have a plan" Well sort of, he should wait but at the same time he can't and he knows he will upset certain beasts and he fears for their and his safely as he coughs a little holding back a sort of sob and then speaks quietly " We can head out...if I don't do it now....I won't..cause..but no more ..no more deaths or least hope not...."He glaces at the otter, now tears show."You can be...be here...help protect Krisha and Northstar and hopefully not have to tell them...bad news about ...me"

Karth limps into the meeting area, he is so stubborn and it took a good bit of time to get here but he did and it seems bad timing as he finds a place to sit and looks over at his leader.."I can help too....." He says simple tone.

Rupert decides he is heading off as too much emotion here "I will be...get some things ready....excuse me sirs"

Sinway looks over to Xander nodding at the comment about protecting Krisha and Northstar "ill protect them wit me life Xander." He nods seriously then goes back to his old habbits "when this is all over, ye should put in a good word fer me with the abbey elders......maybe I stand a better chance at being able to re join the order." he jockingly shoves the badger's shoulder he then looks over to Karth and frowns "I would say ye should be restin' in a bed........but I know ye wouldn't listen if  I did."

Zolomon frowns as he looks over at his friend, he isnt sure what to say as the wrong thing could make it worse, then he sees Karth "Shouldnt ya be in the infirm chap?"

Xander nods, he does have some tears fall "I ...feel like I failed those that were at the base, did I?" He glaces at Karth and sighs "You nee..need rest Karth, not limping around.I need to rely on others to make sure others are ok....can't lose anyone else..anyone else and I know there is still that insane Marten out there"

Karth cross his arms over his chest "Its my leg not my arms, I can still fire off arrows, maybe in a chair off the wall till I recover more I am not one to lay seemly helpless in an infirm and not helping and whom is in charge of the group while your away?"

Sinway shakes his head looking at Xander " I don't know the answer to that mate....if ye failed them or not, isn't what ye need to be worrin' about, what ye need to focus on now is how we can put a end to this, to make sure there death's wasn't in vain.......understand?" He looks over at Karth laughing "Ahh got to love the tenacity of sea otters, I have known many, we might as well give in to karth, he wont take no fer a answer after all."

Zolomon says, "I say we jolly well get to Salamanadstron and get some help and you cant be all places at the same time all at once Xandy, not blooming possible""

Xander nods slowly "Brother Gorvenalus said that too on...not being everywhere at once and yes need to focus on the now..fine Karth msybe you and Sinway can both ..share being in charge of the Defenders till I get back and I do plan to get back"

Karth says, "No...I dislike the word No and yes I will stay here and help best I can, whom all is going on your trip?""

Sinway grins and stands up walking over to Karth "Tis a pleasure workin' with ye.......though really I'll refer to you on a lot of stuff......ye have more experiance wit this.........and every one knows ye, they don't know me........so fer the time being, just think of me as yer arms and legs till ye are up and moving normally.....ok?"

Zolomon says, "I know I am going and Ximena said she is"

Xander replies "Me...Zolomon, Ximena, Rupert is also going and Misu. Silverwing went ahead of us to let them know we are coming."

Karth nods to Sinway and then slowly turns to the badger "Misu is going?" His tone is hard to express if he is upset or worried or could care less but he is quiet for a little too long before speaking again"Sounds like something she do just make sure she comes back"

Sinway sits back down on one of the benches "now don't be a stranger Karth, even if ye don't want to be layin' in a infirm bed, ye don't have to stand there, come on sit down." He then turns to Xander "I wish ye a safe and quick trip."

Zolomon says, "Not sure how quick it will be but maybe a day or two of good wind will help"

Xander nods "Thanks Sinway I will try my best and there is some wind today it may help give us a day or two off the trip...I leave soon...in fact..now" Yep that was quick decision but he knows he likely would chage his mind or delay it another few days if he waited and spoke with others "Inform the Abbot I and some others left."He heads to the main area of the abbey and stops, he takes a deep breath and exhales, he has no clue how well this will go or if he will return, whom will worry or not.."Tell Krisha and Northstar I love them..tell Uncle Oz as well..."He then just walks off to get his blade and armor..."Zolomon.."

Karth just watches the badger walk off before limping over to sit by Sinway "I ..disliek Misu going but if thats her choice then fine"

Sinway nods to Karth "well, like I said about sea otters, they tend to stick to a course once they set it." He can't help but chuckle at the bad sailor pun he just made "all we can do now is wish them luck, and hope fer the best......we got our own problems after all........Xander put us both incharge but honestly INever been incharge of anybeast but me self......so im a little worried."

Karth says, "He assumes I need help" He adds after a while "Ok..maybe I do, I am injuried due to an attck on the base and I told others to run and then go back to check to see if anone was still there, maybe hiding or still alive and found a vole, whom a Ferravale guard took to an infirm, the vole may live I dont know"

Sinway nods and listens "That......well Ferravale is dealing wit its own problems, ye haven't heard yet im guessing, but Bisa has been taken.....I only just found out about this earlier." He frowns a little "I missed most of the meetin' I kinda stayed out way to late making sure every beast made it to the abbey......so I slepted in."

Karth asks, "Blisa, she is chieftain of Ferravale so who is in charge there now and does Benar know of this?"

Sinway shakes his head "I think they said Marek, as for if the abbot knows about this.......I do not know, I only got a brief run down of whats going on, when they will leave and who is stayin'."

Karth says, "Marek Redthorn..Ambassador of Ferravale....Ormaz will likely try and slay him, you do know whom Ormaz is correct?""

Sinway shakes his head again "I'm sorry, there is much I need to learn, I only been back to Mossflower fer a week, before  I know it, I'm joinin' the Defenders, and before I even get a chance to see the base, or meet every one, half of them are dead and the base is gone" The otter looses his normal cheerful expression now "I should of been there, I know I wouldn't of made much of a difference, but still would of been better then locked in the abbey."

Karth nods "Ormaz....is his brother, but insane and pure evil. Yes not a good time to come home but being home you can help still, help protect others and I know the abbot means well he is concerned of others dieing..the abbot too has a lot on his mind and beasts come at him with this or that and he can not answer everything. He tries I know. Maybe ask someone to go to Ferravale with you, who I know not as some will have to stay here"

Sinway listens to Karth about Ormaz "I'm sure with Blisa captured then Marek  will know he is next." He then shakes his head a little "Thats what  I did when I found ye on the road with Misu, but by then it was to late." He frowns again looking around at his home "I know the abbot has a lot on his mind. I just didn't know how much till now, and here I  am......askin' if I could rejoin the order after breaking me vows all them seasons ago.......with all he has on his plate he doesn't need to add that to it..I just didn't know how bad it was till yesterday."

Karth sighs "It..got worse...and could get even more worse. I say just help the abbot best we can and if needed keep him safe, these vermin could well be after him as well, then I know he is wont go outside the building, like on the grounds..least don't think so. He also I know worries about beasts in his care"

Sinway nods "its gonna be chaos, what with every one being cooped up inside......just think of the little ones, there goin' to be trouble.....but right it ain't safe fer them to be outside." he sighs as well "of course ill help protect Benar, he is a old and dear friend of mine."

Karth nods"I..feel sorry for any vermin that may get inside and go near the dibbuns...if there is a chance the vermin could get in..elders,,,dibbuns would be put somewhere safe and hopefully away from danger"

Sinway thinks for a moment "hmmmm, maybe the cellar, tis big and out of the way, and easy to guard, would help keep them safe and out of the way......"

Karth nods,"Yes...wall guards with Defender help..I heard some woodlanders were brought to the abbey, that's good...safer here, may be others though"

Sinway nods "we have a lot of people, we split into five groups with about five of us to a group, the abbey bell was sounded while ye was still out in the infirmary, there may still be some who have yet made it to the abbey though, i stayed out pretty late, later then most escorting beasts in.......might have to talk about the abbot to see if i can go out later and keep searching."

Karth says, "your have to see..I would go but limping would be bad right now"

Sinway nods and chuckles "focus on recoverin' mate, I  know ye want to help, but the sooner ye get better, the sooner ye can really help."

Karth says, "I just wish Misu didn't go, poor decision...on her part"He lets slip some concern in his voice. "But..she is a good archer"

Sinway catches the concern but doesn't ask about it, the otter knows when and when not to ask about such things "poor choice or not doesn't matter, the choice be mad so all we can do is hope and wait."

Karth speaks "But I...."He stops and snorts and crosses his arms over his chest going quiet.

Sinway nods a little understanding "ye worry about her right?"

Karth keeps his arms cross and eyes go closed for a while before he opens them again and just stares ahead, emotionless face and finally speaks "One can be concerned for a fellow Defender..."

Sinway hmms and nods trying hard not to give the other otter that look, the one you give when you know some one likes some one else "ya, that's true......but im sure she will be fine mate, so try to focus one what we need to focus on, and that's protecting the abbey."

Karth nods "Yes and sir Xander will protect those on the trip. He is a good leader even if there is times he thinks he is not"

Sinway agrees "he is a badger after all." he adds shortly before standing up "im gonna go see if i can find the abbot, get permission to do another sweep around the woods, ill talk to ye later Karth."

Karth nods "Yes I will be..somewhere in the abbey, but not the infirm I do not care"

==Half an hour later,outside Redwall gates===

Benar makes his way to the entry and to the group of gathered beasts "Was anyone going to tell me you decided to just go off?"

The hare Zolomon quickly followed the abbot "Not my fault....quick last second  decision...hey Abbot B..slow down ya walking too fast!"

Xander turns, he has his blade and his armor on, least for now he has it on he will remove it once he gets to the boat."I am going to get help. I am leaving now Abbot Benar we NEED the help and it could get worse, also its windy that could help speed the trip up a little...please" He has some supplies with him.

Rupert bows to the abbot "Other supplies are on a boat as we speak, so not many will be needed from here, not to worry a beast has helped with things needed for a almost 4 week trip. I am going along with the hamster Ximena, Zolmon Xander, Misu and yes that's all."

Misu stays off to the side with a hamster and just waits to leave.

The hamster maid remains quiet"Hello..healer..Ximena and I have my own herbs and can collect others on the way there from woodlands, by the river..along the road"

Benar looks at the hare and sighs, then studies Xander"What else is going to happen. I just got news Blisa is..most likely captive, your base is gone...half your Defenders are...either dead or captive of this horde..."He frowns.

Zolomon goes to stand by Xander quietly.

Xander nods slowly "I..know Benar..I promise to be, to try my best to be safe and Silverwing went ahead to tell them we are coming."

Misu says, "We should talk less and get going."Her voice is monotone as she speaks " We will be fine..sir abbot"

Rupert is not going to speak to the abbot, he did earlier as he clears his throat"So..some time today?" He asks the group."It takes the first step before one can even start this journey"

Benar sighs, a deep breath and he finally nods " Fine...I give permission to go to Salamandastron but Xander....please be careful, the last thing I want is more bad news. These insane beasts are after you most likely so don't make yourself a target."

Zolomon smiles "I will help Xandy Abbot B no worries.....or try not to worry least, if ya can”

Misu just seems to want to leave already but she says nothing and just waits, semi quietly"He said yes let's go" Nope she had to say something.

Rupert nods "Well then....let's begin and hope for the best"

Xander feels a couple tears and then bends down to gently hug Benar and just hold him for a couple minutes before he stands again and nods" I will return Abbot Benar, I promise with some hares and who knows the badger lord himself maybe...tell Uncle Oz I am sorry I didn't tell him I was heading off so soon and I am sure he knows I will be careful."He then takes a deep breath, exhales and nods to the group before walking off to the road and then north.

Misu frowns but stays quiet, she will follow them of course.

Benar sighs as he leans into the hug and then nods as the group walks off. He goes to sit on the steps to the wall tops .

Sinway just catches the group as they leave the abbey, walking out the doors from the great hall. the otter makes his way over to Benar and joins him on the steps "a lot has happened." he says, its more of a comment then a question

Benar speaks quietly "The chieftain of Ferravale has been taken captive, and I just gave a group of beasts permission to go on a trip that's going to take almost 4 weeks one way, not to mention 4 weeks to get back .That's a long time..maybe too long to do any good at all"

Sinway sighs a little giving his old friend a nudge "ya, i heard about Blisa, never got a chance to meet her, as for Xander, that kind of thinkin' does no beast good......believe in our friends Benar, and try to put on a brave face messmate, ye be the abbot, and during' this time every ones gonna look to ye fer guidance." the otter gives his friend one of his normal cheerful grin

Benar glaces at the otter "I trust Xander, and help from the Long Patrol would be most welcome but all this seems to be happening all at once, and I don't have all the answers that beast expect me to have. "

Sinway nods keeping up his grin "Neither do I mate, but some times, all ye need to do is put on a brave face, be strong, it will help boost moral." he turns to look at the main gate "It would seem I got put in charge of the defender's along with Karth...I never been in charge of anybeast but me self, and im nervous, but can't let that show, and  I got Karth.....I'm just gonna act as his arms and legs till he gets better."

Benar looks surprised and nods "Well I am glad Xander left someone in charge and didn't just go off on tell no one. I do not always get told of things when I should, some things are told to me the next day ."He stands "Lets head inside it is a bit windy out here."

Once inside the Abbot gets him and Sinway tea and the two friends chat a little while over tea and some scones.
