Ciocan-Badger Lord

Hanzi-Recruit in the LP

Rudolfo- Private in the Lp..Fighter

Later in the log:

Spoofs of hares and assorted beasts(spoofed by Rioko)

Log:(It's sort of long)

Zolomon was already a little worried, he had not seen someone  since last night, all he knew is they were checking on something and would be back possiblely late, to not wait up...so he didn't but it's morning and no news, then again knowing her she is in Halyard as he chuckles.

Rudolfo walks over and clears his throat "ummm..hey"

Zolomon grins "Private R...how ya be..good day, bad day?"

Rudolfo shrugs "I...don't know, anyways his Lordship wanted to speak with you..in the forge."

Zolomon nods and heads on over there.

Hanzi is in the hallway, carrying some supplies to the infirm, and also a few things to the forge room, he frowns when he sees Zolomon and then sits some things down on a table."Here..sur"

Ciocan nods "Thank you Hanzi, you can go now."

Zolomon waves and catches the frown, "Why de long face...ya need held upside down or sumthing "

Hanzi just frowns "I...no just..you didn't hear...."Oh he said too much, "Never mind I need to go to training.....bye" He hurries off.

Ciocan hears the talking and folds his paws behind his back "Zolomon.....come here please I need to tell you something."

Zolomon tilts his head and blinks, "Heard wot chap?" He then walks in and salutes the badger "Ya need me fer something sur? Secret mission maybe? And tell me what...OH! Thar is something I did want to tell you or..ask but it can wait a moment."

Ciocan frowns as he looks at the hare and sighs, this was never easy. "Tarsa...Sareant Tarsa is dead, she was found slain on a path near Halyard this morning...it most likely happen last night, there is also a couple Privates missing. A hamster maid told us. All that was near her also was a flower some..single black colored rose."

Zolomon stands there in shock, a mix rage, sadness, shock all mixed into one. He starts to say something when one of the officers come into the room, seems Zolomon and 3 others are to escort some caravan to Halyard.....fine ...ok he can do that, get his mind off this..news...he mutters a "Thanks for...n...news"And just sort of..heads out.

==Couple Hours Later==

It is truly a horrible morning for patrol, dark, dismal, and bitterly cold. The sun is hardly shining by the time the early morning patrol is halfway done. The rout is lesser used by travelers into and out of Halyard and realitively safer. There are four hares in this unit, each equipped for speed and agility over show of force. Russle the Russet hare, Tulip the white cotton tail, and Mac, who stands taller than the others and a tad bit portly. And of course, Zolomon...

Zolomon is in the back, he woke early to...horrible news so he is NOT in the best of moods. He has not told a joke or tried to cheer anyone up, he just makes sure nothing happens as they patrol the route quietly, he hasn't even muttered about being hungry yet.

He isn't alone in that reguard. The only conversation in the group has been about lack of vitals or warmth. "Couldn't I have just one brisket, sir? It's not like it won't be eaten later. And it will make our supplies later," Tulip's whining is met with a disapproving growl from the officer in command. "Stow it, the more you lot complain, the farther we patrol." says Mac, "You too Russel." "But I didn't say anything!" "I could see the whimpering in your eyes, Russel."

Zolomon rolls his eyes as he keeps to the back, if he had it his way he would of stayed at the mountain, maybe stabbed a training dummy or something. He was called into the Badger Lord's room only to receive the worse news of his life.

"But, sir..." "Russel, I told you..." "No... sir!" The unit comes to a pause as Russel points to where cart tracks have veered violently off the road and down a rocky hillside. If one were to look closely at the tracks one can also see droplets of blood. They look fresh. "Patrolers, to arms!" the big hare draws his saber before leading the unit down the hill, towards the growing sounds of conflict.

Zolomon blinks as he walks forward and finally speaks "Wot was found?" He looks at the cart and the blood and frowns, "Someone was attacked? I wonder if it's those slavers the hamster mentioned..the ones who..."He frowns and stops there, no other words.

As the beasts run, hop, and sometimes slide down the hill, it becomes clear that they are not dealing with just one cart, but several. Someone has run a caravan off the road! There are two more carts at the bottom of the hill, wedged between the rocks. A host of beasts are gathered together in group next to the carts for protection. Foxes, mice, hamsters. It's a wide range of civilian beasts. An otter stands before them, sword bloodied as his side. The guard appears to be the last beast standing between them and the small horde of rats that surround them. They look more like bandits than pirates and sport a wide range of weapons. Some even have shields and armor. There are about 7 in total that can be seen surrounding the civilians. "I was going to settle for just your tail but," One of the rats spits, "After that little stunt, I don't think any of you are going to survive this..."

Zolomon carefully peeks out to where the vermin are and snorts, well they are not outnumber with 7 and 4 hares, he decides to narrow down the vermin and he just gets out his longbow, arrow aimed at one rat threatening the otter and he fires, he rares misses a target and he is..peeved right now too as seeing ANY vermin today annoys him, they ALL must die.

The arrow flies true, striking the rat in the torso... and bouncing off with a metallic 'cling' against the iron chest plate hidden under his cloak. The rat makes a panicked shout, stepping backward to glance at the arrow that nearly skewered his heart. "Well, ok then." He points to where the arrow originated from, and the unit of hares now in full view of the rats. "Well, don't just stand there gauking! Get up there and welcome our new company!" He turns his sights on the otter, eyes narrowed, "Kill them all..."  A trio of rats with swords begin to scale the hill to get to the long patrol, while another two hang back, taking cover in the rocks with their cross bows.

Zolomon narrows his eyes, he fires off another arrow at the 3 rats heading up the hill towards them as he speaks "Ok..we fight back and help this caravan of beasts, it's 7 to 4..fairy good odds."

"Protect the civilian's first!" Mac shouts. He ignores the first rat, as Zolomon's arrow finds its mark unprotected. The big hare rushes to clash blades with the second. "Zol! Focus on the snipers! Rus, Tulip! To me!" The snipers are indeed having trouble targeting the hares as they fight their allies, so they turn to focus on Zol! A pair of bolts bounce off the rocks around the hare. Down below, the otter makes a final stand against the rat in charge. He lunges, the rat parries the otter's blade upward before sliding his own into the beasts belly. The otter gags as the rat draws his blade out of his stomach.

Zolomon nods as he fires at one of the rats shooting them once he sees one peek out, well that was the rat's mistake after all. Dumb rat.He  gets another arrow and aims for the 2nd rat that was firing the cross bolts

The hares are holding their own against the rats, but the civilians are unprotected as the rat leader approaches the carts! The remaining sniper peeks his head around the corner of a rock, this time aiming his bow at Zolomon's fellow soldiers!

Zolomon frowns and fires the arrow straight and true at the rat with the crossbow. His eyes narrow and he yells out " We got to help the otter and his friends!"

"To the civilians! Fight like you mean it!" Mac shouts. Down below. A fox stands up to the oncoming rat, threatening him with a walking stick. The rat easily cuts him down, stabbing him in the side. The vulpine falls, wounded, as the rat brushes the civilians left and right, searching for something. He comes away finally with a large burlap sack thrown over his shoulder before hopping over the cart and out of sight from Zolomon. The remaining rats are quickly cut down by the hares, the last put to an untimely end by Mac's rapier. "Who is in charge here?" Mac shouts as he arrives. "He was." A beast gestures to the slain otter. The vixen then goes back to holding her paw against her husbands stomach. "I need help here!" She shouts. "It's... not as bad as it looks..." the tod chuckles dryly. "You idiot. You're lucky your belly is fat as your head! What were you thinking! Can someone help, please?" "There are more wounded here too!" One of the mice waves his paw. "Right," Mac says, "Tulip, you know first aid. Help the beasts out. Zolomon, stay here and watch her back. Russel, with me. We have a rat to catch..."

Zolomon nods, let the healer who, well knows more, be of help as he looks around "Vermin are..annoying today trust me, all vermin need slain...well the jolly well evil ones do, those in that..that Blackrose fer sure do"

"No argument from me." Tulip quickly delves into her work. Starting with an injured mouse as Mac and Russel disappear into the hill side. Minutes pass with no word from either of them. "Thank you both." The vixen says to Zolomon She is well dressed in silks like her husband, but not as portly as the wounded tod. "If you lot didn't arrive when you did... I don't want to imagine what would have happened." "Still, could have... arrived a split second sooner, don'tcha think?" The tod struggles to laugh. "Please! Can't you hurry?" The vixen can hardly contain her desperation. "I'm working as fast as I can." The hare maiden says, rather flatly as she continue to wrap the injured paw of a mouse. In fact, the beasts she has been working on don't seem to have life threatening injuries...

Zolomon sighs "Maybe I can help some, I know some of battle wounds."If he is able to help, though he is also on the look out for more bandits in the area as he frowns, "The others are taking a bit...too long aren't they?"

The vixen's assessment of her husbands injuries, while scolding, are not far off. If he wasn't so well fed, he would be minus a few kidneys right about now. The injury is deep and will require the paw of a skilled surgeon to make sure he survives it. For right now though, keeping the fox from bleeding out seems the best course of action. "They are taking their sweet time, aren't they?" Tulip wipes sweat from her brow as she steps over to see the wounded fox, "I can take it from here if you want to go looking for them."

Zolomon nods, he hmms and starts to carefully look for the two possible missing hares. He has his saber and longbow with him.

The trail isn't too hard to pick up, neither of them were trying to conceal their tracks through the rocky hill side. It doesn't take long to find the hares at all actually, as they are coming back towards the caravan in a slow defeated trot with no rat between them

Zolomon sighs, they really should not leave a mess, he frowns and walks closer "They got away is my guess"

"Little scamp can run, I'll give him that." Mac sits down breathing hard. "We got his comrades, we saved a caravan in trouble. An almost perfect day in my books." The hare blinks, "Private, why are you up here? I thought I told you to stay behind."

Zolomon says, "Thought it best to make sure you two were not missing or...worse"He frowns "We already had one death today we...we don't need to lose any other hares"

"By leaving Tulip alone and unguarded?" Mac is spurned to rage. Before he can properly chastise the buck, a scream pierces the air. It comes from the caravan!

Zolomon ears droop, he was sure it was ok and the hare maid said she was fine...ok he will hurry back now as it's not too far away at least!

One can only hope.

The others lag behind Zol as they double back to the caravan. "I'm done playing games. The Jewel, or she dies." A familiar voice can be heard. "You harm one hair on her head and I..." Tulip can be heard as well. "And if you don't drop that sword, so help me..." The party rounds the corner to find a similar situation. The rat stands in the open, using the vixen merchant as a shield. Sword pressed against her neck, the rat rolls his eyes as more beasts appear. "You lot just don't give up, do you?" Tulip is alive and well, her own blade in her paws. R

Zolomon looks at the rat, he has his longbow with arrow drawn"What's with some jewel? Good bally grief ya scumfur, your also outnumbered ya ratface"

"It's not quantity that matters, cotton tail, but quality. My one blade right now is worth more than all of you lot combined." The rat sneers, "Unless you want her blood on your paws, drop your weapons, all of you." "Don't you dare lower your weapons." Mac still looks winded. "Please! My wife!" The tod is hardly able to stand. "I... I can give you the jewel, I have it on me. Just don't hurt her!" "That is entirely up to our long eared friends here. Drop your weapons, and I will let her go. All I want is what I was hired to take." The situation is quickly spiraling out of control!

Zolomon eyes the rat, one shot is all he needs to take out the rat. Just a good aim for the rat's head and dead rat. He stays relaxes and waits till he knows the rat can be quickly dead.

"Just take it and let her go!" The fat tod throws something, a cloth sack at the rat. It lands short. Rolling his eyes, "Look, I don't want any more trouble. I just want what is mine. Drop your weapon, I let the fox go. We all walk away happy." "Or, you can drop your weapon, surrender, and my archer doesn't turn you into Swiss cheese." "Oh, was that you?" The rat cackles, "Think you can really hit me, and not this poor beast here? Can you really live with yourself if you miss? Or should I have grabbed a non vermin hostage? Let's find out, shall we?" The fox get's ready to kick the vixen towards Zolomon, all the while his sword is pressing deeper into her fur. Now is the time to loose that arrow! Shoot hare! Shoot true!

Zolomon is peeved off right now. Peeved at the rat, at who ever killed the Sargent earlier but he knows it was the Blackrose cause of that fool ...rose of thier's left behind, he acts at first like he is gonna give up...maybe let the fool rat relax, and right when the rat does he fires the deadly arrow right at the rat's fool head as he gets a clear shot.

The vixen's scream is cut short as the arrow makes contact with a sickening wet THWUMP. The rat behind her staggers, sword falling from his paw. He collapses onto his knees, making one final gurgle before passing into the dark. The foxes instantly embrace, frantic at both nearly dying. "Not a bad shot. Good Job." Mac nods in approval, then goes to cuff Zolomon's ear. "Next time stay at your post. Now come along, we need to get these beasts into town..."

Zolomon snorts, but "Of course..sur." He sighs and stays guard to help"Let's keep an eye out...still may be some other beasts around. I plan to do my best to hunt down someone's...murderer..and soon"Oh yes the eyes..the eyes prove it as does his voice.

The other hares sta ya bit..away from Zolomon as they escort the carvan the rest of the way to Halyard and then all the hares decide on a much needed break.

Zolomon excuses himself and goes to the tavern, he needs an ale..a good strong dark ale. Today has not been a good day at all.
